“Sometimes,” he murmurs, “things need first to be ruined in order to then be remade.”

That ending? I’m speechless. Welcome to my review of Glint by Raven Kennedy.

After how much I adored Gild this did not disappoint for a second.

I loved watching Auren begin to unfurl in an environment full of people trying to bring the real her out of the version of herself that Midas crafted at the hands of his own rotten greed. Reading her ever so slowly begin to trust that not everyone is out to hurt her and bring her to ruin whilst simultaneously being constantly conflicted between this new healthy environment and the toxic one she came from. Trying to mentally figure out right from wrong in terms of how people treat her and the lingering impact of her Stockholm syndrome with Midas still potent in her every lasting thought.

“He shakes his head. “No, Auren. You’re the one that needs to burn. You need to spark to life and fight. Stop letting him dull you, stop letting the whole fucking world trample you,” he shouts, making me flinch from the vehement demand. “If you tried, you could shine brighter than the fucking sun. Instead, you’ve chosen to sit back and wither.”

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours, the font on the physical copy is large and makes it so easy to fly through the pages. Ravens writing is so simple and easy to read whilst at the same time leaving a lasting impact on you as she tells Aurens story like no other. I nearly used up all my tabs highlighting beautiful quotes of determination, hope and growth from the characters in this book.

For me this book wasn’t slow at all, self discovery is a process and that’s what this series is all about. The mental development of our main character. I loved watching her learn to love and respect herself and relate to her journey a lot. I cannot wait to see her break free and set the world aflame in the next book, Gleam.
